Vice President
LinkedinBased in Paris, Romain focuses on SaaS and Fintech investments, identifying promising founders, tracking technological trends, and acting as a close partner to support portfolio companies across Europe and emerging markets. He joined Cathay Innovation in 2020 and helped launch the Singapore office while contributing to the Cathay Africinvest Innovation Fund, a pan-African initiative.
Before Cathay Innovation, Romain held roles in both the public and private sectors, including Policy Analyst at the French Embassy in London and Business Developer at ride-sharing startup Less (acquired by BlaBlaCar). Early experience with Criteo’s founding team gave him firsthand insights into scaling high-growth tech ventures.
He is particularly focused on fintech, crypto, and SaaS across France and Spain as well as Africa and Southeast Asia, where technology can drive inclusion and growth. His work has included partnering with Flowdesk — a standout success of Inno Fund III, diving deep into the CFO-stack landscape through Abacum, and supporting Descartes Underwriting in its mission to transform insurance through advanced risk modeling.
Outside of work, Romain enjoys hiking — from Chamonix to Cape Verde — and has a lifelong love for music, having practiced classical violin for 15 years and maintaining a playlist where The Strokes still hold a special place.
