Simon Wu

Simon is a Partner leading US investments at Cathay Innovation in San Francisco. He focuses on Series A and B startups in software, fintech, digital health, and consumer technology. Since joining in 2016 as one of the first US team members, Simon has partnered with founders from the earliest stages at companies such as Chime (NASDAQ: CHYM), ZenBusiness, Ghost, Sidecar Health, Skan AI, Range, and Quantifind, helping refine business models, accelerate product innovation, and scale globally.

Simon is particularly drawn to the re-architecture of software and next-generation consumer platforms in the AI era, as well as overlooked sectors with transformative potential.

Earlier in his career, Simon spent several years at VMware and worked in the technology investment banking group at UBS.

Simon earned his degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was recognized as a UC Regent and Chancellor’s Scholar. In 2020, he was named one of Venture Capital Journal’s 40 Under 40 Rising VC Stars. Outside of work, he is a devoted dad and an avid NBA & NFL fan — with the markets never far from his radar.
